Royal Society of Medicine, 22 November 2009

The location of Gastro 2009 in London in November provided an opportunity to hold a meeting focusing on iron deficiency anaemia. The agenda highlighted the role of anaemia as an indicator of a gastrointestinal cancer and the need for early referral for investigation. The need to include anaemic status as a component of pre-surgery assessment and the potential benefits of pro-active management of anaemia, especially associated with colorectal cancer surgery, were explored.

A summary of a presentation can be accessed by clicking on the topic title.
